Scarborough, Maine just south east of Portland has another famous landmark - the Black Point Inn. The lovely Inn is set right on the bay by Prouts Neck. What views from the veranda! Perfect place for a weekend getaway, a special lunch or dinner, or if you're very lucky, a wedding. Higgins Beach is a place with great waves compared to the other beaches in the area. But it is mostly geared for the locals and it is hard to find parking in the summer. But if you can find parking, it is so worth it if you like a quiet beach. There is also a local farm stand and local market. Limited visitor parking makes Higgins Beach a highly desirable place to live.
